Who has not heard of UFC? I’m sure everyone who’s anyone has been oriented or even grown hooked to this spectacular competition. Ultimate Fighting Champion is a novice league. But because of its innovative concept of legitimizing and popularizing mixed martial arts bouts, it has grown to be one of the most talked about leagues today.
Ultimate Fighting Championship, the world’s leading mixed martial arts competition, was launched on January 2001. It features mixed martial artists from different parts of the world, competing for the top spot in their respective weight divisions. Mixed martial arts is basically a combat sport in which competitors use various forms of fighting such as jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, boxing, kickboxing, and wrestling, to outdo each other. UFC is thus, a highly intense sport that demands top caliber offensive and defensive skills.
Shane Carwin weighs 265 pounds and is one of UFC’s most popular mixed martial artists. This decorated 35 years old, 6′2″ fighter plays as part of the Heavyweight Division; representing the “Jackson’s Submission Fighting” team and has already proven his prowess when he became the UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion.
Shane Carwin has such an impressive record as a UFC fighter. He has fought 12 professional matches and has never allowed any of his opponents make it past the first round of their fights. As such, Shane is known in the UFC arena as a fighter who ends up every first round with either a knockout or a submission. As of press time, this heavyweight champion now has world-record of winning 7 fights by knockout and 5 more by submission.
But this feat comes as no surprise since Shane Carwin is no longer new to the world of fighting. Back in college, he won the NCA Division II Wrestling National Heavyweight in 1996 and 1997. He worked his way up and has won the National Championship in 1999 and eventually became an All-American twice at the Western State. Aside from being the Interim Heavyweight Champion of the UFC, Shane Carwin also owns the “Knockout of the Night” honors.
Summing his achievements, Shane is pretty much an icon in the UFC arena. And clearly, there is much to look forward to for this great warrior.
