Lou Ferrigno is one of the people who started young in muscles building, won many awards and made it through mainstream movies. He once portrayed the super hero Incredible Hulk and the demigod Hercules, both are television series. He even beat Arnold Schwarzenegger for the role of hulk. He has also starred in numerous amounts of movies.

But what really sets him as an icon is his passion for muscle building. He first started his love for weight lifting at the age of thirteen and after graduating from high school he has received hid first major title. He is one of the tallest body builders in his prime. Even though he had an ear infection and lost his hearing he still continued with his bodybuilding workouts. He told the public that he wouldn’t be the man he is now, a multi awarded bodybuilder, actor, celebrity and entrepreneur if he didn’t lose his hearing. He is a man who has shown the world that it is not a hindrance in reaching your goals if you lack a certain aspect in your body.

Lou Ferrigno is an all-star in the bodybuilding department and a showbiz icon as well. He paved the way to many people who are trying to go through the same hardship as he did as a bodybuilder. Many look up to him as role model, as a bodybuilder, as an actor and as a man.

Here are some weightlifting routines that focus in giving bodybuilders, information on building up of muscles. It also benefits them by increasing their metabolism as well as raising the testosterone production, which is important in bodybuilding.

Bent Over Rows – The person must bend over and adjust himself on a 45 degree angle posture. Then, he would pull the barbell up to the chest level in order to workout the back and biceps.

Bench Press – This is an excellent workout routine wherein the chest and triceps are enhanced. This routine would start by laying flat on the bench and pushing up the barbell up and down. For this type of routine, a standby assistance is needed just in case the person can’t life the weight anymore.

Squats – This routine requires the person to rest the weights of the barbell on the shoulders, stand up, and then squat down. Repeating the process over and over again until the counting is done. This routine emphasizes the muscles in the buttocks and legs.

Leg Curls – This is an excellent routine for gaining muscles in the legs and thighs.

Lifting barbells and dumbbells must be done gradually and regularly. This means that the person must lift more weights in multiple repetitions when going to the gym weekly. By gradually increasing the total mass of the steel plates each week. One thing to remember though, the person must only focus one group of muscle once a week. This is important because the muscles must be given time to repair its tissues after each workout. The muscles must not be strained just like any other types of fitness training, wherein the body needs to rest. Over time, there would be a noticeable change in muscle growth just by following these routines.

Asian countries are known for developing different kinds of martial arts such as Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, and Kung-Fu. The Malay culture also has its own share of developing a graceful yet deadly form of martial art called the Seni Silat or Silat.

Silat is coined from “Si Kilat”, a term that means “one who moves like lightning.” This form of self-defense began spreading in the Malay Archipelago since the 7th century AD. However, the origin of Silat is still uncertain but it can still be originally considered as a Malay art. The history of the Malayan Archipelago which was considered turbulent has contributed to the spread out of Silat throughout the region. This kind of martial art is said to have resulted from observing the fighting tactics of animals and the movements were built as a system of self-defense.

The practice of Silat comprises two dimensions. The first one is the Pulut which refers to the aesthetically beautiful movements that are done for entertainment purposes. And the second one is called the Buah which refers to the lightning speed explosive strikes that are not displayed to the public. During the exhibition, a tengkolok is worn but the traditional attire is the loose pants and top.

In the advanced stages of Silat training, weapons such as knife and sword are considerably important. The offensive moves usually involve the movements of the arm, elbow, fist, knee and legs. The combination of the upper body maneuvers known as Juro-juro and footwork known as Langkah is part of the practices that a Silat exponent does. Styles and tactics may vary the emphasis of each of movement.

Aside from being considered as a system that combines different fighting techniques, a spiritual and moral dimension also complements every move. However the practice transcends religion. Its religious aspect is only for the enhancement of personal development. The Silat curriculum is now being taught in primary and secondary schools in Malaysia.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Floyd Mayweather Jr., the former pound for pound king, injured his rib cartilage. It wasn’t really stated how he got it but doctors disclose that the damage is real. He might have injured it during a heavy workout but this is just a wild guess for many.

Later, Golden Boy Promotion’s chief executive Richard Schaefer told the press that he got the injury during training and the scheduled fight between Mayweather Jr. and Marquez will be postponed and rescheduled. This is because Mayweather Jr. is no longer allowed by the doctor to jog; hit heavy bag’s and speed bags and other sorts of bodybuilding workouts. Schaefer also said that Mayweather Jr. tried to work it out but failed since the pain has worsen that even pain occurs when the boxer is sitting down thus the decision of the doctor.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. whose last fight was in 2007 (against Ricky Hatton) has to wait until the doctor gives the go signal to get back into training.

Now ever since the news broke out that the July collision of Mayweather Jr. and Marquez is on hold, people ahs now fixed there attention on the possible November brawl between Pacquiao and Cotto who just recently won over Joshua Clottey.

And since Pacquiao is now hailed as the new found for pound king, Mayweather might have to challenge Pacquiao soon to declared who the real pound for pound king is.

I have some interesting news to all NBA Fanatics. The NBA Finals Game 4 went on an overtime game between Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers and this event will surely be recorded and highlighted in the NBA history as one of the greatest games. The game was filled with many up and down moments that brought thrill and excitement to everyone in the arena. It was a tough game that made everyone crossed their fingers in every second of the event. Game 4 was a must win for Orlando Magic and this was a good chance to take an insurance victory to win the series.

Orlando Magic played it well except Dwight Howard’s missed freethrows. They should have been taken the advantage to win the game. Howard’s three points on the free throw line takes the lead with seconds to play. The Magic team’s hope was for Howard to shoot one free throw. If only Coach Van Gundy made some crucial decision on letting Alston play who have contributed a lot that made them win the Game 3 rather than Nelson, they should have win the Game 4. After overtime, Orlando Magic did not succeed on their game plan and the team was unable to overcome the devastating Lakers offense which was lead by their veteran point guard Fisher.

The result of the game was a disappointment to the part of the Orlando Magic team. The Magic team gathered themselves up and they’ll try their best to take a win in the next game. The team goes to fitness center to make sure that they will be fit in the upcoming game.

A lot of critics quoted that Orlando Magic’s experience on NBA Finals was little. The team has so much to learn on holding on leads and bringing up composures in the game. Let’s just observe on what adjustments will Coach Van Gundy imposes on Orlando Magic.

The 3rd game was breathtaking. You can hear the audience cheering, making themselves involved and giving out the Magic all the best support they needed. They should win the game because if they will, it will be a franchise’s first final victory. This will be put and be remembered in the NBA history.

Kobe Bryant and his team started with blaze in the first half of the game, making the Magic resilience beatable. You can observe the NBA Finals event differences from the Lakers and Magic. This is reason why Lakers takes such lead in this final game series. Expressions, actions, composures and the spirits are never been this intense in all the NBA Game Finals that Kobe Bryant was on. His big effort along with his teammate did not succeed to stop the great teamwork shown by the Orlando Magic team. Kobe mentioned that he had a bad night after Game 3.

While the Lakers are having hard time defeating the Magic, team effort saves Magic from the growling offense by the Lakers. Their defense was way better than the previous two games with such passion of winning the game. Magic’s starters Alston, Howard, Lewis, Turkoglu and Pietrus were confident to win the Game 3 after they have completed their fitness training in the gym from their earlier practice. Seeing them in the arena astonished everyone. They have shown the heart of a champion and have overwhelmed the Lakers devastating offense. Play by play they contested shots with endurance and determination. They have barred the offense of the Lakers since the buzz of the second half, then, they have taken advantage their effort with remarkable counter offenses that brought the Amway Arena wild.

People, places, objects, all pass in a blur. There is barely enough oxygen to breath in, more so, time to think. In a few seconds, you’ll reach the next turn. You need to act quickly; otherwise, you’ll fall out of rhythm. Your heart is racing. Sweat drips from your forehead. But a smile is drawn on your face. You feel a unique sensation creep up your spine, making you more sensitive, more creative. Without much hesitation, you turn the wheel completely towards the right then let it go. Smoothly, gracefully, you’re drifting through a perilous cliff side.

And you wonder why people have such an intense fascination over speed! Well, who’s not inclined to experience excitement every now and then? If the movie Fast and Furious confirmed one thing, it is that, speed is pretty much addicting. They say the pursuit of a fast ride gives off a different kind of high. Being somewhat captivated by the thrill, racing enthusiasts have experiment on driving styles, in search for something to quench their thirst for adrenaline-pumping action. They’re looking to modify the act of driving in a way that challenges limitations. The answer they found was “Drifting”.

Drifting is a style or technique in driving wherein the one who’s driving behind the steering wheel intentionally over steers it, causing the loss of grip in the stern wheels through turns, all the while maintaining vehicle control in a high exit speed. The basic driving techniques used in drifting are varying but the execution criteria remains to be the same. Novice drivers might find it difficult to perfect drifting during their first few attempts, but the bottom line is they will surely enjoy the experience.

Drifting competitions are very rampant nowadays. First patronized in Japan, drifting contests have now dominated the U.S. racing scene and is slowly taking over the world. Winning rides are chosen based on or through line, angle, speed and most importantly the show factor. The show factor is actually based on numerous things, such as the amount of smoke, how close the car is to the wall, and the crowd’s reaction. But above everything, the angle at which the car drifts, and the speed it takes on, earns more points. Cars used for drifting are usually light to moderate weight, often times rear-wheel-drive coupes and sedans, ranging from 200-1000bhp.

Jameer Nelson’s performance in Game 1 of the NBA finals against the Los Angeles Lakers gave a bad impression to Orlando Magic’s Head Coach Stan Van Gundy. From 3-of-9 field goal attempts, he scored only 6. In the second quarter of the game, he played well but later on, he struggled in the second half of the game. He made a nice assists to Gortat’s dunk and Lewis’s 3-point shot. Orlando Magic takes a 33-28 lead in the second quarter when he scored a jumper and fed Courtney Lee for a driving lay-up.

The Orlando Magic team doesn’t have much to say about Nelson since he contributed a lot on their 2-0 victory against the Lakers during the season and averaged 27.5 points in the last two games. Nelson is one of the key players added to Magic’s lineup. When he suffered a shoulder injury, Alston was grabbed by the Magic closely before the ongoing playoffs. As soon as he’s recovering from a surgery in weeks later, Nelson has already been playing with his team during practice sessions in the playoffs. Nelson’s fast recovery shows that the management of his team has given their full support and has done a great job. Nelson’s injury was expected to fully recover in the month of August but luckily, he recovered earlier from the expected date because of his team’s total effort and workout.

Stan Van Gundy is still determined that they will make it to the finals even though Nelson’s performance in the Game 1 was bad. The Los Angeles Lakers scored 100-75 against the Orlando Magic giving them a 1-0 lead in the finals series.
